Police-Free Schools Campaign
Project ManageR
When the Advancement Project team in DC needed a ‘digital home base’ for their school-to-prison pipeline campaign, Paige Polk thought of the leaders making this work possible. Youth organizers are defining their own sense of safety and building power across the nation. In collaboration with Studio Rodrigo, the team designed the #PoliceFreeSchools digital universe - a prototype of the free, equitable, and beautiful world of these students’ dreams.
The #PoliceFreeSchools universe has three components:
The Website - An organizing resource and storytelling platform. This space celebrates the wins, uplifts the vision, and honors the history of the movement.
The Policing/Resistance timeline - This interactive online workshop overviews of the last 80 years of criminalization and activism in the US education system, and inspires youth participants to design solutions for their own communities.
Social Media Campaign - This social campaign translated the actions and design of the website into engaging micro-components, circulated by 30 power-building organizations nationally.
